When Vince McMahon senior started off a wrestling company by acquiring smaller wrestling territories in the 70s and the 80s, no one could have even imagined that this would some day become a global phenomenon and a billion dollar company, with his son at the helm of it all.
Over the past 40 years, this company grew and expanded – and is today known as World Wrestling Entertainment – a name in the world of wrestling like no other.
An unparalleled force who has time and again decimated its rivals. Whether it be the territories, or the WCW – where the big boys play, or the modern day ROH or TNA (who can barely qualify as rivals), the WWE has been the last man standing.
The company has now gone much beyond the realms of wrestling as a sport – they have now expanded into the territory of wrestling as entertainment.
The WWE now makes apparel, comics, movies, TV Shows, Games and what-nots. WWE Games have been a core element of the company and ever since the PS1 came out they have been releasing games around their product.
It all began with WWF SmackDown, followed by various other games, including SmackDown 2: Here Comes The Pain – which is still one of the most popular WWE games till date.
The latest in the line of these games is that of the WWE 2k16 – which is set to release later this year, somewhere around October, which is the usual time of release of the game.
The WWE 2k16 is speculated to have an ‘authority’ storyline which would feature one superstar of your choice going against the authority (Triple H, Stephnie McMahon and various other figures who have worked with them including the likes of Seth Rollins, Kane, The Evolution, J&J, etc) – users can select a character of their choosing (Reportedly Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton and one NXT rookie) to go against the authority, with all five of them having slight variations in storylines.
The game is expected to have some real life like promos and excellence in commentary compared to other versions.
Daniel Bryan, though inactive and probably retiring from in-ring competition due to sustained injuries, will be leading the authority storyline, closely followed by Roman Reigns and his campaign that followed in real life from Royal Rumble 2015 to his ultimate loss at ‘Mania 31.
