In a news that many users of the Xperia series of Sony mobiles were anxiously waiting for, the official blog run by the mobile division of Sony has now announced that their popular phones – the Sony Xperia z1, z2 and z3.
The Sony Xperia z1, z2 and z3 are now beta tested by the developers to have successfully been able to run the latest version of android – the Lollipop. (Android 5.0)
Sony is currently running three betas and it will soon be rolled out for the fans to try out at their own risk.
The blog has posted this statement regarding the testing on the phones being a success:
“This week Google released the source code for Android 5.0; Lollipop – and to celebrate that we have the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) version up and running on Xperia Z1, Xperia Z2 ….and Xperia Z3. We know there’s probably a few of you itching to get AOSP 5.0 running on unlocked Xperia devices, so we’re working to provide updated versions of the necessary binary files as soon as we can”
The following are the Sony phones that have been announced to get this all new update: Xperia Z Ultra GPE (Google Play Edition), Xperia Z, Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1s, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet, Xperia Tablet Z, and Xperia Z2.
“We’re really excited to bring Android 5.0 Lollipop to the entire Xperia Z Series from the beginning of 2015 – it’s the latest version of Android packed with new features including a more responsive UI, better control over device security, new ways to control notifications, improved performance and a lot more,” said Sony.
