This game was created back in 2011 by a couple, who currently own the Raleigh based Imangi studios.
It was released in 2011 for the iOS devices.
After the immense success of the game, Imangi Studios came up with a sequel.
This sequel was termed Temple Run 2, which, like its predecessor, commanded equal respect from users and critics alike.
iOS received the game on January 17, 2013, Android devices on January 24, 2013 and Windows Phones 8 on December 20, 2013.

The reason why Temple Run is popular is because, in simple words, it is addictive.
No other game has seen a download rate as high in such a short span of time as Temple Run 2.
You simply cannot ignore the way simple running has been combined with maintaining balance while taking sharp turns and avoiding ghosts.

The runners all have different features that will impart a different feel to the game each time you play a different character.
The default setting provides you with Guy Dangerous; with him you will have access to the shield power-up.
He will first start from the golden idol, evade the huge monkey, and try to come out of a maze.
You can choose to have a female, Scarlett Fox run for you.
The third character is Barry Bones and he can give you access to the coin bonus power-up.
Fourth in line is Karma Lee who grants access to the score power up for you.
Famous characters like Bruce Lee and Usain Bolt can be made to run as well.
