With the growth in the mobile phone users ,there is also a growth in the number of marketers who are moving to the mobile phones for advertising. A mobile phone is one such important element which remains with a user throughout their day, and more and more marketers are trying to tap into that. While there are text messages and in-app ads, the most irritating of it all is probably telemarketers who call you and keep pestering the users with their sales promotions. Samsung Galaxy S7, in association with Whitepages, will be coming out with a caller ID and spam protection system which is built-in in the phone.
Users often tend to download apps for the caller ID and spam protection services, however, Samsung has decided to integrate that feature with their phone itself, with the help of Whitepages. The company has done this after a research from whitepages indicated that there has been a growth in these kind of spammy calls over the last one year, as between 2014 to 2015, the telemarketing calls have grown by as much as 35%
With a database of over 600 million active numbers in the US itself, Whitepages is one of the biggest names in the world of caller ID and spam protection. The app will be able to tell you if you are getting a call from a legit person or from a telemarketer.
However the functionality of the app is not just limited to that. You can search for the nearest businesses such as a pizza joint or a plumber or a doctor in the same. The whitepages integration, upon launch will only be available in these countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
This is indeed a good move from Samsung.
