The markets of technology have always been very volatile and subjected to major changes over time. One of the biggest changes that has happened to them in recent times has been that of the arrival of Virtual Reality. The markets for these devices have been progressing in rapid leaps and bounds, and the numbers are very overwhelming. It has been just six months since Samsung’s Gear VR came out, and 4 months since Oculus, 2 months since the HTC Vive. Oculus has recently published in their blog post, that in April, over a million users used the Samsung Gear VR device.
The Samsung Gear VR is powered by Oculus, and the device was officially released some six months ago. With over 250 games having been created for the VR systems, and with the help of names such as Minecraft, End Space, and Bait, the users are all but hooked on to their VR devices! This is indeed a massive progress for a technology which is so new in the markets.
“In addition to the exciting range of games available, VR video continues to be one of the most popular experiences on Gear VR. Seven of the top 10 most used apps are videos and, on any given day, nearly 80% of people who use Gear VR watch video content.” Oculus said on their blog post.
The company also announced that Felix and Paul Studios has now released Nomads for the Oculus on Gear VR, which is basically a unique 360 3D virtual reality series that follows the lives of several nomadic peoples.
They further announced that next week discovery will be coming out with Deadliest Catch video experience for Oculus on Gear VR. Facebook too, is going to add 360 degree photo support for the news feed, and users would need a 360 degree camera to capture it. Many more changes are coming our way, and Oculus concluded the blog by saying:
“With more intuitive content navigation, new ways to explore your photo memories, and exciting new content being developed every day, the VR ecosystem has never been more promising! We can’t wait to bring mobile VR to the next million.”
