The pioneers when it comes to mobile phone technology, Motorola at one point of time was considered to be ‘invincible’.
The same company saw a major fall from grace when the Nokia phones took off, and today life has come a full circle for them, as the Nokia markets have been decimated and the company has been knocked off the pedestal it used to reside at, and the company has now sold out their mobile phones division to Microsoft, while Motorola, on the other hand, makes a triumphant comeback to the very markets from where it was once rejected.
Motorola has managed a major turnaround and has gained all lost credibility with just three series of phones –The Moto G, Moto X and Moto E devices.
These three phones are priced at three different price points, the Moto E being the least costly while the Moto X being the most.
The company has been on a major roll with these three devices, and last year they released the second generation devices of the phones, and this year it’s time for the third generation.
The Moto G3 was the first one to come out, following which, the Moto X Play has now been released.
Another version of Moto X3, the Moto X Style is yet to be released in the markets.
The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-based Moto X Play smartphone features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display offering a pixel density of 403pppi. It also features Corning Gorilla Glass protection.
The smartphone is powered by a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM.
The highlight of the Moto X Play is its 21-megapixel rear camera which can record 1080p HD video at 30fps, supports 4X digital zoom; burst mode; night mode; auto HDR; Panorama, and drag to focus and exposure. There is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera also on board.
The company has launched the dual-SIM variants of the handset in India, supporting Nano SIM cards.
The smartphone will be available in Black with Black back and White with winter White back colours.
Much like other Moto devices, the Moto X Play also features water repellent nano coating.
The handset is backed by a 3630mAh battery with the company claiming a mixed usage of up to 48 hours.
The phone comes in at a price point of Rs. 18,499 and is one of the upper priced phones, however it is worth every penny as the features totally make up for the high price.
