Microsoft Lumia 650 has been a phone which has time and again been rumored on the internet. The device has been one which has been under a lot of criticism lately, and has been a device which was expected to be the last Windows 10 mobile under the ‘Lumia’ branding. However, the phone finally released yesterday, the 15th of February. The company has given no indications on the fact if they would be shutting down the division, and have instead branded this phone as a ‘business device’.
The Microsoft Lumia 650 is not your typical Windows Phone offering. The device comes out with a much better look and feel to it, as the phone has been given an aluminum frame, to give it a premium appeal. The device has been dubbed a ‘business device’ and comes in at a fairly low price point, at just $200.
The phone offers the users a 5.1 inched screen, along with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage space. The Microsoft Lumia 650 comes out into the markets with a decent 5MP front camera and an impressive 13MP camera on the rear. The phone runs on the Windows 10 OS, and will be the third phone to run on the Windows 10 platform, after the Lumia 950/950 XL and the Lumia 550.
However, at this price point, while one does not expect a really good processor, the phone does disappoint with a Snapdragon 212, as the users were expecting the Lumia 650 with a Snapdragon 410 at the least. The phone also has a low powered battery, featuring only 2000mAh.
While Microsoft has made no announcements of shutting down the Lumia branding, it looks like the company is instead trying to change their positioning strategy, trying to make their phones ‘business phones’, something that has worked out very well for blackberry over the years.
