Micromax, the Indian giant when it comes to smartphones has been aiming big and is now looking forward to attack the Chinese invader which has entered the Indian markets and has caused a threat to Indian brands.
Ever since Xiaomi came in, the price wars have intensified and companies have been reducing their prices even further than they already had to compete with Xiaomi’s products.
Micromax has been the company which has lead the charge while other popular names such as Karbonn, Lava, Intex and Lenovo have also been in the race.
Micromax has given a fitting response to the Xiaomi phones, whether it be in case of products, price or features.
The company, which was literally unknown in the Indian markets nearly five years ago has sprung up to be the top name in the Indian ecosystem as the Micromax brand grows stronger by the day.
Micromax has hired Hugh Jackman as their brand ambassador, and has been promoting their phones heavily and have now gained the Indian consumers’ confidence.
Micromax has also created a separate brand to let go of the ‘inferior’ perception, as they have been releasing products under the Yu brand.
The ‘Yu’ series of products have been two phones so far, both of which have been fairly successful in the Indian markets and have received a warm response because of an incredible value for money equation as the users were getting high features for low prices.
The latest in the line have been the Yu Fit bands, where the company now plans to enter into a marketing war with Xiaomi who recently introduced their Mi Fitness bands.
Micromax’s YuFit fitness bands will compete in the same markets and at the same price point, and will be sold in the same way as Xiaomi did it.
Micromax is now seeking revenge and is trying to drive out Xiaomi from India.
According to reports from Firstpost, “Micromax owned subsidiary YU Televentures has announced that its YuFit fitness tracker wearable will be available for grabs on July 29 at a price of Rs 999 on Amazon India.
Registrations for the flash sale will start on July 21 at 12PM respectively.”
