Among the tablet makers in the world today, Samsung and Apple are the leaders.
For Apple, the the tablets are the iPads and for Samsung, the tablets are launched under the Galaxy Tab range.
Today we are going to discuss in this article, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.10 and the iPad Air.
As the name suggests, the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 has a 10.1 inch screen and is an Android based tablet, like all other tablets manufactured by Samsung. It measures 243.1 X 176.1 X 8 mm and weighs around 510 grams.
The iPad air on the other hand has two variants – a cheaper variant that has only Wi-Fi connectivity while the Cellular plus Wi-Fi model which allows use on a cellular network and on Wi-Fi as well.
The dimensions of this device is 240 X 169.5 X 7.5 mm and it weighs about 469 grams, which is quite lighter as compared to the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1.
The 10.1 inch screen of the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 makes use of the low quality capacitive TFT touchscreen and has a screen resolution of 1280-by-800 pixels and a ppi of 149.
The iPad air on the other hand uses a high quality IPS LCD touchscreen with LED and Retina Display. The resolution of the screen is 1536-by-2048 pixels and the ppi is 264. There is an oleophobic coating on its screen, that renders the screen scratch protective.
The iPad Air attributes its processing skills to the A7 CPU, that has 64 bit support and an M7 motion co processor. In the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1, the processing is looked after by a 1.6 GHz dual core processor with a graphics processor SGX544MP2.
The iPad air has a 5 MP primary camera and the Tab 3 10.1 has a 3.15 megapixel camera. The iPad Air camera has access to many features like burst mode, Geo-tagging, video stabilization, face detection and auto focus. The Tab 3 10.1, on the other hand, only uses the Geo-tagging feature. The secondary camera for both devices is lower than that of the primary camera.
The Tab 3 10.1 is priced at $329. The iPad Air is priced according to its connectivity variant type and the storage space. The price ranges from $499 – $799 for the Wi-Fi version and $629 to $929 for the Cellular plus Wi-Fi versions.
