Whatsapp and Instagram are two of the most well known and most used applications worldwide.
Though the use of the both of them is a different one, the factor that lies common between the two applications is that the both of them are owned by- *drumrolls* – facebook.
Instagram had been acquired by global social media giant, facebook a few years ago.
And whatsapp was purchased by Facebook in the march of this year for a whopping 19 billion dollars.
But both these purchases are very smart acquisitions by Mark Zuckerberg, as he now has the access to worlds greatest ‘big data’ portals – an app that has all your numbers and an app that has all your pictures.
Whatsapp is the world’s most popular Internet Messaging tool, which is being used by over 600 million active monthly users worldwide. When instagram was launched the basic objective was to make the entire world an art gallery and fit it right in your pocket, as hashtags serach became popular, people started using more and more of instagram.
While whatsapp’s main feature is its messaging, they improved upon it by adding voice chat, on the other hand Instagram’s main feature was uploading pictures, but soon they added the feature of uploading short videos as well.
Whatsapp allows you to form groups of people while instagram provides no such facility. Basically these two are two very different applications with a diverse variety of functions. Whatsapp is known for its iconic green and white symbol featuring a telephone, instagram is symbolically represented by a tiny camera.
Instagram not only allows you to upload and share pictures, but also allows you to tag people into them. It is more of a social media oriented application, when compared to whatsapp which is purely an Instant Messaging app. To sum it up, “Instagram is the WhatsApp of camera apps and WhatsApp is the instagram of Instant Messaging apps”.
