It must have been a shocking day for that one user of Samsung Galaxy S5 when he saw that an Android Lollipop 6.0.1 was made available for him to download.
Don’t really be surprised or get expectant that you might also be picked for this update. Samsung is not giving out golden tickets to five lucky children to spend a day at its mobile factory. The offer is being made only to Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge users who own unlocked phones. Yes, this one S5 user who got the update was rather lucky, as the update was purely accidental.
All users living in UK and in China, who own Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge devices and own them in an unlocked state. If you own a handset that is not unlocked then Samsung won’t play Wonka for you. However, this is not a final change. This is just a beta testing phase that is being conducted for users within UK and China, so that these unlocked handsets can be tested upon before a final update can be released.
The Android Marshmallow updates will bring a lot of good features for users. Apart from a cleaner interface, the users of this version of the OS can expect their devices to see a lot of new emojis and subtle changes in the way the phone responds. The devices upgraded with Marshmallow and its updates will be able to manage battery power better. The phones will be able to make use of the Doze feature, which will be able to detect when the phone has been lying in standby for a long time and will turn off a few battery consuming apps so that the battery power will be retained.
The mobile world congress program is going to be available very soon and we will be able to see new devices for Samsung. Hopefully, the old ones will get updated to Marshmallow soon.
