Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp are both products of the social networking giant facebook.
Although, both are really popular and are both based on the internet for acting as messaging apps, their scope of functioning is completely different from each other.
Certain gfeatures of both the applications are similar. For example, both are internet messaging apps and both belong to Facebook.
One other important similarity is that both can be used to send online and offline messages to one another, much like the other chat engines.
Emoticons are common to both for sharing expression.
However, there are also certain features of the applications that are remarkably different.
To start with, the Facebook messenger, as already discussed and as the name suggests is completely based on Facebook.
The color combination, the theme and of course the contacts are all the same as on your Facebook account.
The users who are using the application know the efficiency with which the app informs them about whether the contacts are online or not.
The application, apart from sending message can also help you to place free calls, get confirmations, time stamps, sharing pictures and your location as well.
In short you can send pictures, stickers, etc. In order for the application to work, the user would have to sign in with the facebook account credentials or open one with a new email address and pass word.
You would have to log out after the usage is over because there is no option to log out from the application.
For users on weaker data connection, Makers have also come up with the lite version of the application.
While Facebook messenger is marked in blue color, WhatsApp shows a green theme.
The application has been bought by the owner of Facebook, when he was able to see that the application had almost 900 million active users.
For the application to work you will have to install the app and then register with your phone number.
Here too, the user does not have a log out option so there is no other option but to quit the internet connection.
WhatsApp does not allow sharing of stickers like Facebook Messenger.
Moreover, with whatsapp, from the second year onwards, you will have to pay an amount of $0.99 cents. Games cannot be played here, but a user can enjoy many other benefits. Group chats as large as 100 can be organised.
It is tough to decide which one to pick; if you are interested in Facebook the stick to messenger while if your phone contacts are more precious, then you have to stick to using WhatsApp.
