Over the past sevearl years, a large number of brands have realized the power of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality and have quickly been making the leap to this gen-next technology. One of the biggest names to have embraced this technology with open arms has been that of Microsoft. For years, the company has been experimenting with the concepts of a device that connects AR and VR to the physical world that we live in. Microsoft Hoololens is that device which makes it possible. The company is now gearing up to launch a successor to the Hololens, but it is not likely to release till 2019!
Ideally, by 2019 Microsoft had planned to release a third-generation Hololens. However, there are a large number of complexities that surround the Microsoft Hololens. The company has actually decided to skip one version from their ideal roadmap, and release the second version when they planned to release a third one. The idea behind this leap is that Microsoft now plans to introduce many gen-next features on to the Hololens, which will immediately give them an edge over their compeittion.
Microsoft is looking at the long run here, and the company does believe that the Microsoft Hololens does have the power to change the way the consumers perciee the brand to be. With the first Hololens having released over two years ago, this is quite a long wait. However, the Microsoft Hololens is still a product that needs numerous improvements, beginning from their field of view to the battery life, to the size of the device itself!
While we are unlikely to see a new Microsoft Hololens till 2019, there’s a good chance that the device becomes more of a household name by then than it now is. At the moment the Hololens is largely limited to testers, developers, and techies. Howeer, a wider application will make it more interesting.
