The Indian markets are one of the most surprising markets when it comes to mobile phones.
Many unlikely names have been emerging as top players while many international giants are not even in the top names in the country.
As a country, India has only recently started spending with an open hand.
The country has by and large been a market where the spending is cautious and people tend to think a lot before making a purchase.
However, off late that trend has been disappearing and smartphone sales have been booming in the Indian markets.
With Samsung holding the number one spot with 24% market share, closely followed by Micromax at 16%, the Indian markets are quite surprising as Micromax is quickly advancing towards Samsung’s throne.
However, the surprise comes in at no. 3, as Intex has become the country’s third largest smartphone manufacturer with 10% market share.
The company is an unlikely name, as the intex phones are rarely seen, however they have captured the rural markets quite firmly.
Intex owns the sub-100$ category in India and keeps coming out with phones which are low in cost and high in features.
Following the same trend, Intex has now released their latest phone – the latest in the Intex Aqua series of phones, the Intex Aqua 4G, which is a 4G phone running on the latest version of the Android OS 5.1, and comes in with at the price of just Rs. 7,444.
Apart from 4G LTE connectivity, the highlight of the smartphone is it packs a 3000mAh battery.
Running Android 5.0 Lollipop, the Intex Aqua Turbo 4G features a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixel) display. It is powered by a 1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM.
The Intex Aqua Turbo 4G comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, with storage expandability via microSD card (up to 32GB).
It sports a 5-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front camera.
Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi with hotspot functionality, GPS, EDGE/ GPRS, 3G, Bluetooth, Micro-USB, and FM radio. It measures 144.5×72.5×8.9mm and weighs 150 grams.
The Aqua Turbo 4G also features HotKnot file transfer technology, which is similar to near field communications (NFC) in terms of application.
The battery life and the Android OS are the two highlights of the phone, the camera doesn’t look that good, but with the other features at this price point, it can be excused. Intex is also an Indian company.
