Facebook bas been one of the biggest names when it comes to the world of technology. The company has been around for a very short while, and in these few years, they have managed to capture the markets of social media very well. With over 1.69 Billion people no using Facebook, the company has been expanding at a very rapid rate. It has been anticipated by many that Facebook soon intends to build a complete ecosystem of their own apps, and this idea looks clear when one looks at the company’s offerings: Facebook App, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp Messenger, Moments, Instagram among a few other offerings. With Facebook M coming out for public in the future, the company is all set for the next level of social media technology.
Facebook Messenger has been the company’s second-most popular app, with a little over 900 million monthly active users. The company keeps updating the Facebook Messenger time and again, and in one of their latest updates, Facebook has now added various new Emojis to the messenger, which help add ‘diversity’ to it.
The company has said on their official post that they are adding new emojis to make it a representative of the world that we live in, which is a much more diverse world than it is represented in the current set of emojis.
The company said: “Say Hello to the New Messenger Emojis – from skin tones that you can choose to lots of women in great roles, Messenger is beginning to make emojis more representative of the world we live in.”
This new update is quite similar to the one which was released for WhatsApp a few months ago. The company is adding more female-oriented emojis, as well as adding various ethnicities to the mix.
Facebook has officially commented on this change on the page of the Facebook Messenger, saying: “We’re diversifying the genders to create a more balanced mix that’s more representative of our world. Now, using Messenger emojis, you’ll see a female police officer, runner, pedestrian, surfer and swimmer for the very first time, and we’ll keep rolling these out.”
