Microsoft has been a company which has been coming out with more and more innovations over the years. The company has been one of the leading names when it comes to the world of technology, and has been a rather gamechanging force. Microsoft has been an unchallenged name in the software markets, and is now a force in the world of hardware technology to. The company was now rumored to be working on a Surface Phone device, which would be a merging of their Lumia and Surface divisions. However, as per latest reports, Microsoft has now cancelled the Surface Phone device plans.
The company has been facing major losses in the hardware division, and for them, it seems enough now. Microsoft has burnt their fingers time and again in this division, and the company now feels that this is it now.
During their Build 2016 event, the company dropped several such hints where it looked quite possible that they will no longer be making the Microsoft Mobiles for the next few months, as all their focus has now been on the Hololens and the Windows 10 OS.
And rightly so, too. Microsoft’s mobile phone division has been facing major setbacks, and today holds close to 1% market share in the smartphone markets. The Windows Phones are suffering from a lack of public acceptability. These devices have also been alienated by the app makers and many major market names have deserted them. Many popular apps, such as Snapchat do not have their presence in the world of Windows Phones. The Surface Phone was expected to help lift up the numbers, but it appears that the damage has been too deep.
Microsoft’s Surface Phone device now looks like a distant dream , and the chances of it releasing any time soon look bleak. The Surface Phone was modeled on a device which was earlier cancelled by the company – the Surface Mini.
Any announcements regarding the Surface Phone are not likely to be made any time before October.
