Microsoft has been a company which has been coming out with some of the most innovative technologies in the world of software and OS technology.
The company has often been appreciated for the efforts that they are putting towards the growth of those markets.
However, over the years, Microsoft too has been looking for newer avenues for growth.
The company has been tapping the markets, and is now looking at the hardware markets.
Off late, Microsoft has shown an active interest in the hardware business.
It all began with the XBOX consoles, which were the first foot forward by Microsoft towards the business of hardware.
The company has, since then witnessed a massive growth in the XBOX division, and has off the past few years been working on the surface devices.
They started off with tablets, which evolved into laplets.
Microsoft’s Surface series of devices were received with a lukewarm response in the early days, but as the years progressed, Surface became a major hit with the users and has now become one of the major profit making units for Microsoft.
The company has recently added two new devices to the surface series – the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and the Microsoft Surface Book (which, for the first time ever, introduces a laptop in the surface series).
The company has been working on the development and expansion of the surface series of devices for quite a while, and have reportedly been working on a third device for the surface series – a mobile phone!
The introduction of a mobile phone in the surface series is expected to give them a bigger boost than ever before, and the device is reportedly being built under the codename ‘Juggernaut Alpha’.
With this device, Microsoft intends to tap further into the mobile phones markets, which they have not been able to achieve with the Lumia devices as of now.
However, the mobile phone markets are expected to grow kinder to Microsoft as the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL have now come out, and with the Lumia 550 and 640 XL LTE Dual SIM helping them penetrate into various diverse markets.
The Surface Phone is expected to release with a minimum of 4GB RAM and is likely to feature a desktop class Intel Atom processor.
No details have been revealed about this device as of now, however, the picture is expected to get clearer by the time we approach 2016 as the phone is said to launch in the first quarter of the next year.
