The markets of mobile phones are quite volatile. One moment you’re Motorola, the pioneer in the world of mobile phones, sitting at the top, dominating the early markets which you have set up, and another moment comes a wave of Nokia mobiles, which drowns you into obscurity.
Nokia faces a great run in the markets, eventually bows to the pressure Android puts on it, sells out to Microsoft.
Microsoft, the global giant in the world of software technology, was expecting great things to happen after the acquisition of Nokia.
The company was aiming at developing their mobile phone division stronger than ever before, until they realized things were not going as well.
This moment of realization became public when just a few weeks before the launch of the Windows 10 OS, the financial reports became public, and we came to realize that since the Nokia deal happened, Microsoft had made major losses, almost of $8 Billion, in just the mobile phones division.
Close to 8000 jobs were let off, and another 1000 are still at risk!
This was a major downside to the Nokia deal, but Microsoft was one name which was not going to give up so easily.
The company decided to fight back, and has prepared a much better plan of action than ever before.
Not only did they release the latest phones in the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, but they also released a brand new series of Surface Devices – which have helped them power back into the markets.
Microsoft, with the new Surface series of devices, the Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Book laptop, aims at gaining a major edge.
Talking about the mobile phone markets, it has been heavily rumored that Microsoft has been planning to add a third device to the Surface Family, and it might just come out as a surface mobile!
The phone is being developed under the codename of ‘Juggernaut Alpha’, and many, including interviewer David Pierce have claimed that the phone does exist.
There are no details about this device that have managed to leak out as of now, but as per the expectations of the markets, the phone is going to be a 5.5 inched device with a metallic frame, and will feature latest features such as USB C and Continuum.
The phone is expected to be very powerful and will feature a minimum of 4GB of RAM. It is said that the phone will come out with a ‘Surface Pen’ too.
More details will be announced as we come across them! Stay tuned with us for more.
