Microsoft has been a company which has usually kept itself clear of controversies. The company has been around for over past 42 years, and continues to dominate the markets with their skills and expertise, especially in the markets of software technology. Microsoft has now been working on the hardware division, but has been facing several setbacks. The Microsoft mobiles division has flopped miserably, while the XBOX division too has been floundering in the markets, especially when compared to the PS4. However, the one good performing division for them is that of the Surface devices – the Surface Pro and Surface Book which came out this year have been a saving grace for them.
However, the company is again in quite a pickle over some of their previous releases in the surface series, as the company has now recalled as many as 2.3 million surface pro power cords! This announcement has come in just days after Apple too recalled their AC Wall Plug adapters due to a potential fire hazard.
On Tuesday, the US CPSC said that Microsoft has received 56 reports of the AC cords overheating and emitting flames and five reports of electrical shock to consumers.
Microsoft has recalled the power cords, and the users would be getting newer, safer cords in return. However, they can only do so till the 15th of March.
“Despite the absence of serious injury reports, Microsoft is offering free replacements to enhance the customer experience and ensure optimal product performance,” the company said in a statement.
In other recent news, Microsoft has recently updated the Surface Book and the Surface Pro 4 devices with the latest Windows 10 OS Update, where the users have been granted new features, but are left disgruntled over the fact that the much needed update which fixes the battery and the wake up issues is yet to be fixed.
