Google has been a company which has been going through several changes lately. The company has been coming out with numerous changes to the way things work in their organization, and a major re-shuffling has just happened in the company. Google has restructured itself under Alphabet, and as a result, they were making the news as they managed to topple Apple from the top spot in the markets in almost four years. In a latest announcement, Alphabet has now said that Google Search Chief, Amit Singhal will be stepping down and will be replaced by Google’s AI head, John Giannandrea.
Amit Singhal, a veteran Google employee of Indian origin had been a part of the organization for well over 15 years, and the man will be stepping down on the 26th of February.
“Search is stronger than ever, and will only get better in the hands of an outstanding set of senior leaders who are already running the show day-to-day,” Singhal wrote in a blog post
Giannandrea too, is an important person in the Google ranks, as the man has been responsible for several changes that have taken place in recent years. Giannandrea completes his six years in Google in 2016, and had lately been leading the company’s machine learning efforts and had been promoting the AI technology. He was also the name behind the image recognition feature for Google, as well as Smart Replies for Inbox.
“Machine intelligence is crucial to our Search vision of building a truly intelligent assistant that connects our users to information and actions in the real world,” Google said in an emailed statement.
Giannandrea came to the company after the acquisition of Metaweb Technologies, of which he was the co-founder. It is on the basis of the services of Metaweb technologies that Google formed their knowledge graph.
Mr. Amit Singhal is now expected to work towards philanthropical efforts.
