Google has been a company which started off 18 years ago as just a search engine. Today, the company stands as a multi-billion dollar corporation, which holds control over a large number of products and services which have helped change the shape of the world of technology as we know it. Back when they started Google realized that the hardware markets were dominated by Apple and the Software markets were ruled by Microsoft. The only way out for them would be creating the markets of internet technology, and when Google created them, they were really good at them. Google Maps has been one of their most popular products, and the Google maps for iOS has just received new updates –
- 3D Touch
Google Maps for iOS devices has finally received the 3D Touch update. Light pressing the Google Maps icon will now allow the users to directly navigate to home, work, or other saved places on their maps. With the arrival of 3D Touch, the Google Maps for iOS app now shows the users options for marking and sharing location, as well as searching nearby.
One of the biggest updates that has arrived for the Google Maps for iOS users is that of detours. Users can easily take detours without having to exit the navigation mode. This update was introduced for the Android users in October 2015, but has reached the iOS users now.
After this new update, detours have become much more easier, and users can now search and select destinations which fall near their route. These detour stops can include gas stations, restaurants, grocery stores, and coffee shops, and are listed in the menu.
This has been one of the most important updates for the Google Maps for iOS users. The iOS users often feel neglected from the Google community as the updates are not as frequent for them. However, every time Google sends out an update for these apps, it really helps the users feel reassured on using Google’s services.
