For a name which has been around the markets for as long as Blackberry, it is indeed in a tough spot.
The company has been struggling hard to survive in the markets, and for a company which has had quite a reputation of being a major player in the past, the company is indeed in troubled waters.
Blackberry has been a name, which was synonymous to ‘smartphone’ at one point of time.
However, over years, with more and more smartphones coming into the markets, and at much cheaper prices than what Blackberry has to offer, the company has been facing several setbacks.
The phones were at one point of time, the apex example of how a smartphone should be.
Today they fight for their survival.
In one final attempt to stay afloat in the markets, Blackberry has finally given up the BB OS, and has now given a chance to the world of Android technology.
Blackberry’s latest release, the Blackberry Priv comes into the markets as the final hope.
As per our previous reports, (which you can read at: Blackberry to Shut………….), Blackberry is aiming at either selling 5 Million units in the next 365 days, or planning to shut down their mobile phones division permanently.
The Priv is only the first release for Blackberry since March.
There is absolutely no denial that this is a tough time for the company, but the fact of the matter is, will Blackberry be able to overcome the odds and come out stronger than ever before?
The phone releases with Android 5.1.1 and will get the Marshmallow update next year.
The company is expecting that its sleek design and touch-sensitive keys that allows users to swipe, scroll and set up shortcuts will woo former loyalists back to using the Priv.
Initial reviews of the Blackberry Priv were mixed, with many lauding its security offerings, long battery life, camera, dual-keyboard design and other features, but panning the Priv’s high price tag – $699 (roughly Rs. 46,100) without a contract in the United States and C$899 without a contract in Canada.
The phone comes out with a 5.4 inched screen, along with a 1.44 GHz processor and a 3GB RAM.
The phone features an 18MP camera and a 2MP front camera.
It comes along with 32GB of built-in storage. One of the highlights of the device is the 3410mAh battery which ensures a long life of the battery.
