There are a number of iPhone users who have a liking for certain Android features.
However, these users are also, so hooked on some features of their iPhones, that they do not want to switch over to Android, only to avail a few features that it provides and decide to forego these requirements.
Google has realized this and after making an extensive market study on what Android features appeal to iPhone users, has come up with a strategy to boost business by trying to give iOS users access to these features.
One of these features that we will discuss today is the ability to tether an Android wearable to an iPhone.
This feature was highlighted in the official blog that the company has.
Apart from just breaking the news, the company explained how they were able to establish compatibility between an open source platform like Android and a closed platform like iOS, which in the truest sense, is rather commendable.
The company decided to first test this feature using an Android wearable called the LG Urbane.
The latest test results were able to show that the device would work without any problems when the firmware is used on an iPhone.
It is, however, too early to state anything about this feature as the test has been carried out only with the LG watch.
Some other major brands like Motorola, Asus and Huawei will also be passed through a gauntlet of tests to determine results.
With the current tests made, it has been proved that Android wear may work with iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 models running on at least iOS 8.4.
Is the Android Wear going to be better than Apple Watch?
Apparently, Android wear makers strongly believe that their Android wear is far better than the features Apple Watch provides.
Given below are reasons why they believe the same.
- Notifications can be checked rather easily. Android wear always displays important excerpts of messages, phone calls or alerts from any of your favorite apps. Even if your watch is in sleep mode, the screen will automatically glow to show you the update.
- SmartHelp feature helps you save time by giving you updates on appointment dates, avoiding traffic congestion or flight status. Google Now can be instructed to work accordingly.
- Android wear can help you keep fit by setting targets for workouts on the device. The device would in turn keep track of whether you are working towards meeting your target or not. Running and walking would be monitored and your heart rate will be displayed to you if you need any information about it.
