Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook and just turned father of a baby girl, Maxima, is also an unbiased human. With the world in turmoil on Paris terror attacks and the havoc wreaked by ISIS, there has been a lot of discrimination against Muslims around the world. Unfortunately, it has come from some of the most influential people of the world, one of them being Donald Trump, who apart from being a multimillionaire tycoon, is now one of the contenders for being the next president of United States from the republican party.
Trump shocked the world with his recent speech made in a public event where he openly criticized Muslims in general for the recent mishaps in Paris. He said that Muslims should not be allowed to enter United States of America at all.
Zuckerberg, on the contrary, supported Muslims with his recent post on Facebook. He post dealt with his opinions about the fact that despite all the allegations against Muslims and the degradation they are facing because of terror groups, Zuckerberg would not bar them from Facebook. He is eager to make a contribution in his own way to support Muslims, not just in America, but in all parts of the world. Zuckerberg expressed his desire to welcome Muslims to use Facebook and assured that this would be a peaceful place for them.
His reasons behind this is clear. Zuckerberg is a Jew himself and is a part of a community that faced genocide during the 2nd world war. His parents, he said, taught him to believe in standing up against attacks on all communities and that an attack on anyone’s freedom today would turn against everyone in future. He closed his post by asking people not to be in despair and to face Cynicism boldly.
This post was liked by almost a million users. it was shared thousands of times on everyone’s page. Comments by senior members of Facebook, like those of COO Sheryl Sandberg urged people to like each other for their differences and to ‘embrace them’.
Trump however, remained sardonic and indirectly held the internet for being responsible for so many people joining the ISIS. He said that the internet worked as an effective platform to help ISIS ‘recruit’ members. These members who would try returning to America, according to Trump, should not be allowed back in United States of America.
